Meet the Wapuu of WordCamp Finland

We are introducing the main mascot of WordCamp Finland. This comes in a form of Wapuu which is traditional mascot of WordCamps since 2011 when Kazuko Kaneuchi designed it to promote WordCamp Japan. Since then various WordCamps have dressed it with local clothes, feed it with local food and pictured it with local sights.

This year we asked help to design our Wapuu and the community delivered. Without further ado, let us introduce Näsinneula’s Wapuu.

This Wapuu is designed by Kseniia Kim who is an illustrator and UI designer at redandblue.

Näsinneula is arguably the most iconic landmark of Tampere. It is the tallest building in Finland standing 168 meters tall. Näsinneula is an observation tower with revolving restaurant at its top that allows visitor to eat a meal while enjoying the views of both city and surrounding areas. Näsinneula is located next to the lake Näsi and is surrounded by amusement park Särkänniemi. The name Näsinneula translates roughly as the needle of the lake Näsi.

You can find some swag with this Wapuu at the event!
